Cattle drives are done with the Dunn ranch cattle, 200 head of prime BC interior
cattle. Be part of this exciting event as one of the crew and help move our
cattle out to open range. This area has been the setting for the books “Nothing
too good for a cowboy” by Rich Hobson Jr. This is the area of some of
the earliest cattlemen in this region, most notably Panhandle Philips.

Outline for both Drives
May 25 or Aug 24
You will arrive on the start date of your trip, anytime after 12pm. We will show you to your accommodations and give you a chance to settle in. You will then get acquainted with your horse and fellow riders. In the early afternoon we will start a short chase, in the spring we put the bulls with the cows, in the fall we sort them away from the cows. We will then ride back to the ranch for a scrumptious homecooked meal and campfire.
May 26 or Aug 25
This morning after a hearty breakfast we head out to get the cows and start them on their way out the range. A lunch will be provided at a designated point. We will move the cattle till we get them to their pasture at the fisher’s meadow. We will ride back to the ranch where dinner awaits us along with some campfire entertainment. 16 km approx
May 27 or Aug 26
Today we will ride to where the cows are in their pasture, we will round them up and again start to move them towards their final destination. A hot lunch will be delivered to us along the trail. Once we drop the cows we will the turn around and head back to the ranch. A little longer ride today. 22km approx.
We always have a wagon along for gear, water and such, lots of room to sit if you need a break from your horse. At the ranch we will have another great meal and campfire entertainment, for those who wish to leave on this night you may do so. However you may stay the night and leave after an early morning breakfast.
For those that wish to bring a tent for a real camping experience please do so, lots of our guests do this.
